Carson Glickman-Flora represents a variety of unions in the public and private sector in litigation, arbitration, and negotiation.  Carson came to the firm after externing for an Administrative Law Judge at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Planned Parenthood of Western Washington, where she assisted on a nationwide class action to ensure a major employer provided prescription contraception coverage in its otherwise comprehensive health care plan.  Carson is also a graduate of the AFL-CIO Organizing Institute.

Representative Work

Carson assists her union clients in improving the lives and working conditions of their rank and file members through litigation, arbitration, and negotiation.   Her work includes:

  • A multifaceted campaign to ensure that registered nurses in Washington state receive adequate meal and rest breaks, including a court award of double damages and attorneys' fees; Click Here for more
  • Defeat of an employer's attempt to enjoin lawful concerted activity in federal court; Click Here for more
  • Use of the National Labor Relations Board to curb aggressive employer action designed to chill concerted activity, particularly in the grocery and manufacturing sectors;
  • Defense of unions against duty of fair representation claims in federal court, with a focus on limiting costs;
  • Enforcement of collective bargaining agreements, including awards requiring employers to pay money damages for breach of contract, particularly in the construction and airline sectors;

Carson also provides legal advice to unions related to pension and health and welfare matters.  On occasion, Carson represents individual workers seeking unemployment benefits or the wages an employer has wrongfully failed to pay.
