MULTI-DAY
LABOR LAW IMMERSION
Three Two-Hour Sessions
Cost: $300.00 per person
Labor Law Immersion is an intensive survey of legal issues faced by union representatives, organizers and
leaders. Course participants will deal with the key legal problems faced by union staff members in public and private
sector organizing; bargaining; day-to-day representation; litigation and several common external law situations;
including hiring rules, privacy issues, immigration and wage and hour problems. The course is designed to sharpen
recognition of potential legal problems, provide an understanding of the legal resources available to solve those
problems and consider how the law can be used to advance workers' rights. Space limited to 15 participants. All skill
and experience levels welcome, but the course is geared toward staff with at least two years of experience. Some
outside class preparation is required, and participants are urged to attend all three classes.
