Genipher Owens is a Senior Paralegal with Barnard Iglitzin & Lavitt. Early in her career she pursued her undergraduate education in Paralegal Studies and Business while working full-time. Through her eleven years in the legal field, she has developed a strong interest and skill set in eDiscovery and advanced legal technology. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Data Analytics. Genipher is also a Certified eDiscovery Specialist candidate and will soon be one of only approximately 100 paralegals in the world to hold this certification.
Genipher has been employed by the Firm since 2015. Prior to joining the Firm, she contracted with firms around the Puget Sound to assist with complex litigation cases, eDiscovery, trial preparation, project management, and firm administration.
Since joining Barnard Iglitzin & Lavitt, Genipher has worked closely with various courts and administrative agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board, Public Employment Relations Commission, and the Superior, Appellate, and Federal courts to further the mission and goals of the Firm and our clients. With the utmost attention to detail, efficiency, and organization, Genipher uses her experience and expertise to enthusiastically take lawsuits from the discovery phase to trial. She combines her dedication for justice and union-side labor law to successfully work with clients through all aspects of legal proceedings.
In her free time Genipher enjoys spending time with her family and serving her community. She participates in various local charity programs in our community and is the Seattle City Event Chairperson for a national women's health organization.
As a third generation union member and the Firm's bargaining unit shop steward, Genipher is a proud member of Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local 8.
