Michael White
Michael White joined Barnard Iglitzin & Lavitt in 2021. Michael was first exposed to the labor movement when he was a part of early organizing efforts at two private ambulance companies while working as an emergency medical technician. After that, he became a professional firefighter in South King County for thirteen years. During that time, Michael also worked for firefighter unions at the local and state level. He served on the Executive Board of the Valley Professional Fire Fighters, IAFF Local 1352. Michael then represented the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters as a Legislative Liaison for six years. Additionally, Michael was a trustee for the Law Enforcement Officers’ and Fire Fighters’ Plan 2 Pension Board.
Michael’s unique background gives him an understanding of the practical and legal issues workers and unions face. His practice includes representing public- and private-sector unions by providing client advice and representing them in contract negotiations, grievances, claims to the Public Employment Relations Commission and the National Labor Relations Board, and litigation.
Michael earned his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law. During law school, he interned with Barnard Iglitzin and Lavitt and the Washington State Office of the Attorney General’s Revenue and Finance Division. Michael earned his B.S. in Political Science and a minor in Justice Studies from Arizona State University, graduating summa cum laude. He also earned an A.A. in Fire Science from Bellevue College, graduating with high distinction.
